Every year, New York City, New York, hosts the Costume Institute Gala Benefit, and stars go all-out with their looks. This year, the theme was “PUNK: Chaos to Couture” — so, of course, celebs showed up in their dark, spiked and studded best! Bow to the queen! Katy Perry arrived on the red carpet in a bejeweled dress with an ancient art-inspired print. She even added huge cross earrings and her own golden crown. Talk about royalty!

Taylor Swift looked gorgeous and statuesque (as usual!) at the gala, but this time, she avoided her lovely lace and glittery light dresses. To fit the punk theme, Tay rocked a body-hugging black gown with geometric cutouts. We like seeing Taylor with a dark side!

For her gala look, Jennifer Lawrence chose a textured black strapless gown, topping it off with a netted veil and bold red lipstick. This look is definitely old-school glamorous — it’s like she stepped out of another century!

Emma Watson went the daring route with a black cutout gown and pointy heels. With so many zigzags (as well as her one lone earring), Emma rocked the asymmetry factor! A very punk rock choice.
